First of all...if you saw the post before this...I totally read your post wrong and so my response made no sense.

There are two different types of lighting I use. The one in the picture is just a static image overlay. I just made a semi transparent black image with a round spot mostly erased where the fire is. So, it is not very exciting but also not memory hogging. The other type of lighting is far more of a pain...and if I add too many lights it tends to bog down the system and cause lag. I am trying to save those for places like caves where you will need to use torches/lanterns to see.

Yep that answers it completely. Sounds like a good idea too.
