Awesome. I recently acquired another turtle. It was found in the yard of a friend of my Grandma's. We think it's a Russia tortoise.

Only a little. We really recently got one of those bike-mountable baby seats. It's a little awkward, but pretty good overall. Pretty soon it's going to be too hot to even try to ride :/

The news is making me think I need to start encrypting all my communications, just on principal.

Anyone interested in having an encrypted chat relay available on the server?

Maybe so. What did you have mind?A  Jabber server, or something more sophisticated?

Yeah, just a jabberer of some sort. Either ejabber or jabber2 or one of the others (there are lots)  ejabber seems the most mature. Most all of them support ssl and some other encryption. 

Finding a phone client to work with them should be easy. Too bad Google talk doesn't support accounts on other servers.

Edit: might be possible to have a private server talk to Googles server for relaying.  And it might also be possible to add other xmpp contacts to Googles chatter.
