I updated the first post with all of the suggestions, plus a few more. They are currently in "random order." Feel free to update/make more suggestions...This is, after all, The Official Randomland Camping List!

zourtney

I'm sure there are some more things we should put on this list...We could also make a "camp-camp-lite" version.

Nick

Brad

You might actually need different lists for different times of the year, or at least a winter/snow camping version and a non-winter/snow camping version. Also how come hand-sanitizer is under kitchen and not hygiene?

What about a card-table for where there is no picnic benches? (Might want one of those plastic table coverings too).

Probably out to throw a compass in there too for when you get lost and your GPS won't get signal or doesn't work.

Some snow-only stuff:
Tire Chains
Sleds
Water-proof boots
Extra freaking blankets cause it's freaking cold
A shovel longer than my forearm
Water-proof rain gear.

zourtney

Good thinking. Maybe I'll create a few pages on Randomland (instead of just the forum) and keep that  up to date with what we think up on here.

Maybe:
randomland.net/rec/camping-list
                           camping-list/summer
                           camping-list/winter
                           camping-list/light

And as far as categorization goes, maybe I should remove that. Or make 2-3 very broad categories because, yeah, a lot of those don't make sense in retrospect

Nick

I like the summer list and a winter list. Then split each list into essentials you have to have (that would be the light portion) and extras that are just nice to have.

Brad

What about categorizing items as per group and per person? Those categories make it easier for us to share the list and figure out who is bringing what. We obviously can't all share a cot and a pillow, but it'd be silly for each of us to bring a camp stove or air compressor.

So you'd have two lists, broken into an essentials and extras; then the essential list and extras list is broken into per group and per person lists? What do you guys think?

zourtney

Yeah, that would be good. We have several lists floating around (including this topic and  that GoogleDoc). We just need to compile them into a more usable format.

Nick

Sounds like a job for the unemployed.  Cody you listening? Lets compile a list to bind all (these) lists.
