We need to go do something somewhere for Haloween. If we are going to make awesome costumes then shouldn't we go somewhere were we can be laughed at and ridiculed by other people?

So what's the happenings? Are there places we can go or things we can do? Ideas?

Nick

Bowling is always an easy idea. Or biking around so all the more people can see us freaks.

On a related note I have some apocalyptic looking ventilation masks that I think I am going to try and work with. It would be cooler to find a military one though. I am thinking Mad max/Halflife type thing.

Brad

Awesome! You should be able to make something cool with that.

Brad

I'm kinda bummed so far about this Halloween. It's on a Saturday which means I don't get to wear a costume to work, and nobody else seems to care about making a costume or doing anything fun. Melissa said she wasn't even going to make a new costume this year, she'd just use an older one.

My own costume making has kinda stalled. I've got the basic helmet constructed but I've gotta do the finishing sanding and make all the extra pieces which attach to the helmet. I've got all the plastic I need for the body armor. I don't know If I'm going to have time to do the jetpack and at this point I'm not super-motivated enough to do it.

I need some costume-creation solidarity. Anybody else going to make a costume? Does anybody want to get together to work on stuff sometime (even if we are not working on the same thing)?

Nick

I want to make one. I like the power-armor from fallout 3. But that is super overkill. But something need made. If you want some help or someone just to keep you company while you work I will come over.

Brad

Yeah, you should come over sometime! You can help me with my stuff and I can help you figure out stuff for your costume.

You don't necessarily have to create the power armor from fallout 3, but you could make a pretty awesome post-apocalyptic soldier/warrior type costume. Use the gas mask, cut up some plastic trash cans to make a few pieces of armor, get some grungy clothing and carry around a machete and some weapons (you probably can't take a machete into a bowling alley). If the costume looks cool who cares if it matches something from a movie/game specifically. Anyway thats just an idea. You'll come up with something I'm sure.

I'll send you a text-message later so when can figure out when we can meet up to work on stuff.

Brad

I think Courtney and I are going to go to harbor freight around lunch time today. I need to get a few clamps so I can attach some pieces to the helmet. I also want to get a plastic face shield which I can for the see-through part of the helmet. I'll need to get some after-market tinting stuff to make it black. I doubt Harbor Freight has that stuff though.

You should come too and find stuff for whatever your costume thing is.

Nick

Ok. I was going to go anyway to get some better eye-wear for going under the house to replace insulation (itchulation) just something tight fitting to keep the fiberglass out of my eyes and off my face.

zourtney

Maybe I should go as one of those giant tentacle blob-men things for Fallout3. Maybe if I eat nothing but McDonald's for the next month I can achieve this state of being without being an irradiated mutant!

Nick

You would also need umm, no arms on your torso and to grow a thorax with extras. Plus have a bad case of noodle-face.

Brad

Gah! Tomorrow is October! I've got a ton of stuff to finish on my costume still. I'm debating about whether I should attempt to construct the jetpack or not. It'd be cool, but I don't know if I'll have enough time.

Anybody want to help me construct a jetpack ( a non-working one unfortunately :( )?

Nick

So when might you want to get together to do something. I have very little in the way of inspiration for mine. But I could help out with yours if you need it.

Brad

Well I'm finally starting to feel less like death so we could get together to do stuff soon. What are you doing on Saturday? Or possibly some evening next week?

I had a cool idea for making the jetpack actually shoot a foam nerf rocket, but I've got so much other stuff to finish I don't know that I'll have time to construct the rocket, let alone make it actually work.

If you need ideas/inspiration for a costume I can keep badgering you with ideas until you tell me to shutup.

Nick

I will be free later today (oct 4) if you want to work ok things. I am thinking about making a trip to value village or salvation army to find some costume parts (sports padding and the like to fill in for body armor) I might even have a look at the military surplus store, though they will probably want more money then I am willing to part with.

Brad

Sorry I didn't check the forum until now (we should probably use text message to set up times instead), do you want to meet some evening this weekend? Also let me know if you want company when you go to value-village/army-surplus.
